The silver snake you see in the picture is a flexible metal duct from a bathroom fan. At approximately 25 feet long it will be difficult for a fan to exhaust efficiently. Imagine trying to blow out candles with a long straw. The shorter the duct length the more effective a fan will be at removing moist air from a bathroom or kitchen.
