In Vancouver our prevailing winds are southeasterly. It is likely a contributing factor to the moisture damage on this eastern facing wall. Two other factors are poor design and maintenance.

There is water staining of the cedar shingles below the food soffit, the horizontal planes of the chimney (usually sloped) as well as the top of the chimney have deteriorated and some of its stucco has broken away from the surface.

These are all signs of water damage and are alerts to check for further damage on the interior.
