Planter boxes at the foundation of home or condo exterior should never allow contact of soil or concrete to wood without a moisture barrier.

Water from the corner of this concrete planter was allowing moisture to pass into the wood siding and structure below. Dark water staining is apparent on the wood sheathing; luckily the issue was caught before it compromised the structural integrity of the material.
